Culture Night Saturday April 18th 18.00–24.00

The sculptor’s oeuvre

Step into the artist’s studio and meet a collection that spans six decades. Carl Eldh (1873–1954) assembled his maquettes and full-scale models, even for works never executed, in the studio he worked in between 1919 and 1953. In the studio rooms early wood works, sculptures expressing strong emotions executed during studies in Paris, Strindberg’s interpretations, the City Hall sculptures of the 1920s and countless portraits coexist. Carl Eldh worked in clay and plaster. Finished models were later cast in bronze at an Art foundry or carved in stone at a stonemasonry. Since 1963 the museum has been open to the public, inviting visitors to take part of a magic display in a unique building by the City Hall architect Ragnar Östberg.

Drop-in subject to availability for security reasons. The art educators are happy to answer questions about Carl Eldh, the art and the building but to minimize the risk of long queues there are no fixed tours. Big bags are not allowed in.

Free admission 18.00–24.00. during Culture Night
